Cathedral's Unique Features and Traditions

St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe boasts a rich tapestry of special features, traditions, and activities that make it a unique spiritual destination. From its historic landmarks to its vibrant community life, every aspect of the Cathedral reflects the enduring legacy of faith and culture in Uganda.

The Ogan

Our majestic organ, acquired from the Positive Organ Company in 1922, stands as a testament to the Cathedral's commitment to musical excellence. With its rich tones and intricate craftsmanship, the organ adds depth and solemnity to our worship services, lifting our spirits and inspiring devotion.

The Pulpit

Crafted with care by students of Kings College Buddo in 1915, the pulpit serves as a symbol of the Cathedral's dedication to nurturing young talents and honoring craftsmanship. From this sacred platform, the Word of God is proclaimed with clarity and conviction, guiding our congregation on their spiritual journey.

The Cathedra

The Cathedra, or Bishop's Seat, holds a special place of honor within our Cathedral. Fashioned by students of Kings College Buddo in 1915, it serves as a tangible reminder of the Episcopal authority and spiritual leadership entrusted to our bishops. From this seat, our shepherds guide and inspire the flock with wisdom and compassion.

The lectern

Donated by the government of Uganda in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I (1914-1918), the lectern stands as a solemn memorial to the fallen. With each reading of Scripture, we honour their memory and reaffirm our commitment to peace, justice, and reconciliation.

The Chapels

Nestled within the Cathedral grounds, the Mary Nsubuga Chapel, Hannington Chapel, and Kivebulaya Chapel offer quiet sanctuaries for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Each chapel bears witness to the lives of saints and martyrs, inviting worshippers to draw closer to God in intimacy and devotion.

The Window Dedicated to King Edward Muteesa II

A striking stained glass window adorns our Cathedral, dedicated to the memory of Ssekabaka (King) Edward Muteesa II. Through vibrant colours and intricate designs, the window pays homage to his legacy as a leader, statesman, and advocate for justice and equality.

The Stained Glass Windows

Our Cathedral's stained glass windows, with their luminous hues and intricate patterns, illuminate our sacred space with beauty and reverence. Each window tells a story of faith, from biblical narratives to scenes from Ugandan history, inviting worshippers to contemplate the mysteries of God's love and grace.
